It has been some tough times for fans of the Miami Heat recently since they lost their talisman in LeBron James.

James left for the Cleveland Cavaliers last summer and that was a key factor in the Heat failing to make the play-offs last season.

The Heat had made it to four straight NBA Finals when LeBron up and left for Cleveland so them missing the off-season all together last season was a real shock.

Many feared a mass exit from Miami last summer but stars like Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh remained with the team.

That now seems to be a trend which has ended after Wade announced that he has opted out of his deal with Miami and is set to become a free agent.

Wade was scheduled to earn $16.1 million next year but he has decided to test free agency instead.

Whether Wade will listen to offers from other teams is another question however as he has been quoted as saying that he would like to stay in Miami.

In a year that will see Kevin Love, LaMarcus Aldridge and possibly even LeBron James all enter free agency Wade could be set to add his name to the mix.

The teams who will be chasing big name free agents vary from play-off teams last year to those who struggled at the bottom of each conference.

Where any player will land is a mystery but there are set to be a lot of big name players causing intrigue in free agency.

What next Miami

Wade may have been quoted as saying that he would like to stay in Miami but the reports are that the 33-year-old is looking for a deal which averages $16 million over the next three years.

Everyone will be interested to see if the Heat are willing to give their star what he wants and if they choose not to, who will they turn to.

Wade will become a free agent on Wednesday and Miami may need to move fast if they wish to retain his services.
