Blues are to bid €18m for John Terry’s successor

John Terry might have had one of his best seasons to date last term but Jose Mourinho is still ready to try and find his eventual successor this summer, according to reports in Germany. The latest rumours infer that Chelsea are preparing an €18million bid for VfB Stuttgart centre-back Antonio Rudiger, with Mourinho an obvious admirer of his talents and an advocate of his potential for the future. It’s also believed that Rudiger would be keen on the move as he wants Champions League, which the Blues can offer, and considering Stuttgart only managed a 14th-placed finish in the Bundesliga last term we can’t see much holding him back. In other news the Blues made an immediate proposal for Asmir Begovic yesterday following the confirmation of Petr Cech’s move to Arsenal. Mourinho put forward £6m in an attempt to convince Stoke to play ball, but they rejected. Chelsea will have to pay closer to £8m if they want their man.
