Arsene Wenger turns his attention away from Arturo Vidal

Arsenal fans might have been a tad surprised to see the confirmation that the Gunners wouldn’t be trying to sign Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal this summer, but don’t worry, it appears Arsene Wenger has a ploy up his sleeve. The latest reports indicate that the only reason the Frenchman isn’t interested in landing Vidal is because he has a preference for Sporting Lisbon hot-shot William Carvalho, long-linked of course with a Premier League move. Carvalho might not have the same reputation as Vidal but he’s a better ball-winner, which is perhaps what Arsenal need if they’re to provide a stern challenge to the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea next year. Elsewhere the greetings for Arsenal new-boy Petr Cech have come thick and fast, with a number of the Gunners’ key players offering their welcomes.
