Dwyane Wade was only a free agent for a little more than a day before he was signed to a massive new deal within the NBA a report has claimed.

According to ESPN, Wade has secured his short term future at least by signing a one year deal with the Miami Heat.

Staying put

Wade has played with Miami for his entire career and now it appears that he will be staying there for a 13th year.

Towards the end of the season, Wade had been quoted as saying that he was eager to remain with the Heat despite their failure to reach the post-season.

Despite wanting to remain with the team, Wade opted out of his deal with the Heat on Monday and became a free agent on Wednesday.

Rumours were that Wade was seeking a multi-year deal but he has now reportedly signed a one year deal with the Heat.

Reportedly worth $20 million for next season, Wade has signed a big deal with the Heat in order to help them return to where their fans feel they belong.

Wade shocked a lot last year when he decided to stay with Miami despite LeBron James leaving the team for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

LeBron opting out sparked rumours of a mass exodus from the Heat but Wade stayed put and he suffered through the Heat's worst season in five years.

Miami had reached four straight NBA Finals winning three of them before the 2014 season but last year they didn't even make it to the play-offs.

Now Wade has resigned to try and help the team return to where they feel they belong next year by attempting to reach the play-offs.

What next?

Miami have made a big statement by offering Wade such a big contract but they clearly feel that the contribution he will bring to the team next year will be worth it.

The question now becomes, what else will the Heat have up their sleeves ahead of next season in order to improve their place in the standings?
