Manchester United are poised to rekindle their interest in highly rated Benfica playmaker Nicolas Gaitan.
The Daily Telegraph carries reports from Portugal that suggest that the Red Devils lead the race to sign the Argentinian midfielder, who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for the past four seasons.
And the good news for Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is that Gaitan's number one option remains a move to the Premier League - and United in particular.
He's believed to be attracting interest from Atletico Madrid too, although they will not be able to match the financial firepower of United.
Atletico will be monitoring developments closely over the transfer window, and expect their interest to step up once Arda Turan completes his move away from the Vicente Calderon.

Turan is another midfielder linked with United, although Gaitan is probably the more likely option with Turan also mentioned as a target for Chelsea and Barcelona.
While Atletico wait and see what happens with Turan, Manchester United will also see how much interest they get in Angel Di Maria.
The club record signing was poor in his debut campaign for United and while he's found a bit of form for Argentina at the Copa America, van Gaal would be foolish to ignore big offers for a player yet to settle in England.
Gaitan, under contract until 2018, would not come cheap as Benfica are under little pressure to sell. Spanish reports claim Atletico are willing to offer around £25m for Gaitan, although in the past United have been quoted as much as £38m for the gifted attacker.
Having secured Champions League football for next season, van Gaal is now under orders to deliver a Premier League title challenge.
He's already brought in Memphis Depay but having missed out on Nathaniel Clyne and with Robin van Persie a rumoured departure, expect United to be extremely active over the next two months.
A striker, winger and right-back would all be priorities, and the club are closing in on Southampton's midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin too.
