Three reasons why Arda Turan will flourish at Barcelona

When Arda Turan signed for Barcelona earlier this week it surely came as a surprise to many who expected that he was destined for the Premier League.

Especially given that the Catalans are still subject to a transfer ban.

However, it appears that there were never any other contenders for the players' signature after he admitted to being a great admirer of Lionel Messi and Barca's famed style of play.

Turan is a departure from the type of player whom the Catalans would normally target, but his skill set should ensure a successful tenure in Blaugrana.

Let's take a look at three reasons why the Turkish international will flourish at Barcelona...

Work rate

In a team noted for the skill and way that they pass the ball, Turan's capacity for hard work will be like a breath of fresh air.

Not that Barca don't already have players in situ willing to do all for the cause, just that Turan brings it to a whole new level.

An astonishingly high work rate complements a significant physical presence; something that Barca have lacked at times in games.

Whilst it might be said that his style would be more suitable to a team like Atletico Madrid, it does the player a disservice. It's a man's game after all.

Another facet to Turan's game that is often overlooked is just how creative he can be when in possession of the football.

He's no Iniesta or Xavi granted, but there's more than one way to skin a rabbit.

How often have we seen intricate passing form from the player, and the solution to outwitting opposition even in the tightest of situations.

He has five months to learn Luis Enrique's way of playing before being unleashed back into La Liga.

We might see a slightly different Turan variant, but one that is no less effective.

In a team more noted for its physical abilities, Turan's 85.2 percent was the best at Atletico Madrid.

It's yet another area in which the ex-Galatasaray captain, and one of the most capped Turkish internationals of all time, excels.

In a team who's average pass success rate is at the mid 80's percentage wise, Turan will slot straight in without any problems.

It would appear that some La Liga connoiseurs are blinkered when it comes to their assessment of Diego Simeone's side.

When Arda Turan pulls on the Blaugrana for the first time, they could be in for a shock.
