Raheem Sterling's agent, Aidy Ward, has admitted there is a lack of trust between the young England international and manager Brendan Rodgers.

What's more it's this strained relationship that seems to be the reason Sterling is keen on a move to Manchester City and leaving Anfield this summer.

City intent

The midfielder has been absent from Liverpool's pre-season training and has refused all offers at a new contract, according to reports. Meanwhile City have submitted a bid for the player, though their initial offer was rejected.

It's said the Reds will be holding out for a fee close to £50million and City have just had their UEFA ban lifted, meaning they are free to once again spend large sums in the transfer market.

In any case there are many clubs keeping a keen eye on the situation, and Ward's comments will only add to the speculation about the player's future.

Ward comments

"With Raheem, there has been a breakdown in trust between him and Brendan Rodgers," Ward said to the Daily Mail.

Liverpool have thus far been one of the most active clubs in the transfer market thus far, having signed six players already. On top of the likes of Danny Ings, James Milner, Roberto Firmino and Nathaniel Clyne moving, Christian Benteke is said to be in talks with Aston Villa over a switch to the Merseyside club as well.

Liverpool fans, is it time Ward kept his mouth shut regarding Sterling? Let us know what you think in the comments box below.
