Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette has set tongues wagging by favouriting a tweet linking him with a summer move to Arsenal.

The tweet, posted by an Arsenal fan, was a French news article claiming Arsene Wenger plans to take advantage of negotiations between Lacazette and Lyon.

Eagle-eyed Arsenal fans spotted Lacazette’s possible hint and news has since spread like wildfire, with some supporters already excitedly thinking about the prospect of the France international leading the line at the Emirates Stadium next season.

However, Lacazette has since unfavourited the tweet and disabled the option for users to view his favourited tweets.

It’s entirely plausible that the 24-year-old accidentally tapped ‘favourite’ on the tweet - we’ve all done it - and woke up this morning to see hundreds of notifications on his phone.

Arsenal fans react on Twitter

But that hasn’t stopped Arsenal fans from excitedly posting their thoughts on Twitter.

Here are some of the best reactions.

Lacazette, who scored a magnificent 31 goals in 38 appearances for Lyon last summer, has also been linked with moves to Chelsea and Liverpool over recent months.

If Arsenal were to secure the highly-rated striker’s services, it would be a major coup for the Gunners, who have already strengthen their squad this summer with the acquisition of goalkeeper Petr Cech from Chelsea.

Lacazette plays off the shoulder of the last defender - an entirely different type of striker to Olivier Giroud - and possesses a cold and clinical eye for goal when inside the penalty area.

Arsenal fans: do you want Alexandre Lacazette to sign for your club this summer? How much of an upgrade would he be on Olivier Giroud? Have your say by leaving a comment in the box below!
