Gunners are preparing to sign a Serie A defender

Arsene Wenger has a history of signing young players with great potential, so there’s probably some truth in the rumours claiming Arsenal are making enquiries over the possibility of signing AS Roma defender Alessio Romagnoli. Unconfirmed reports from Sky Italia say the Gunners have had a bid turned down for Juventus youngster Daniele Rugani, and Gazetta dello Sport are stating that they’ve now turned to Romagnoli, who spent last season on loan at Sampdoria. What’s more it’s said Wenger’s interest in the player comes after Roma refused to negotiate over fellow defender Kostas Manolas. We won’t want to stir the cauldron but it appears Arsenal are desperate for a young centre-back. Elsewhere Jack Wilshere has confirmed he will talk with Arsene Wenger about his short-term future, stating that he wanted to sit down with the Gunners boss before the start of the season.
