The future of Hertha Berlin goalkeeper Christian Fiedler hangs in the balance after it was confirmed on Sunday he has torn cruciate knee ligaments.

The 33-year-old has been ruled out of action for six months and will miss at least half of next season after twisting his knee during his side´s 1-0 win over Newcastle on Friday.

He may not even play again since his contract with Berlin expires next summer and there is already talk of him becoming the club´s new goalkeeping coach.
