Rennes chief wants Briand resolution

Rennes president Frederic de Saint-Sernin has called for an end to the Jimmy Briand transfer saga.

Briand revealed at the beginning of July that he felt "betrayed" by his club after they blocked his transfer to Paris St Germain, claiming he had an agreement with his employers that he could leave if PSG firmed up their interest with a bid.

The 22-year-old even threatened to quit football rather than remain at Rennes. However, De Saint-Sernin claims it is the capital outfit who are putting the brakes on a deal. "I want this soap opera to finish as soon as possible," he told French sports daily L´Equipe. "It has lasted too long."
