Southampton striker Sam Gallagher is on the radar of no less than five Championship sides who will all look to tempt the 19-year-old with the chance of first team football, according to The Mirror.

Cardiff, Sheffield Wednesday, Middlesbrough and Wolves are all interested in talking Gallagher on loan though it's believed that MK Dons are leading the race for his signature.

Ronald Koeman will only allow Gallagher to leave on loan if the England youth international is guaranteed plenty of match time, which it can be assumed MK Dons have offered.

The Dons want young Gallagher to lead their attack during the club's debut campaign in the second tier. Manager Karl Robinson may look to offload out of favour striker Tom Hitchcock who signed last summer but quickly fell out of favour, heading out on loan to Fleetwood where he scored just once.

The club have also announced the loan signing of full-back Robert Hall who joins from Bolton having already spent time at Stadium:MK last season, helping the club win promotion with three goals in seven appearances.

As for Southampton themselves, the Saints have failed in a bid to re-sign Callum Chambers on loan. Arsene Wenger has since set out his plans for Chambers to become a regular feature for the Gunners in the centre of their defence following the club's first Emirates Cup victory since 2010.
