LeBron James believes Tristan Thompson's Cleveland return is a certainty

Football News

The Cleveland Cavaliers re-signed LeBron James over the offseason with the multi-time All-Star's post-Finals message - 'maintain and improve the roster' - ringing in their ears.

In keeping Kevin Love, Iman Shumpert, Matthew Dellavedova and James Jones whilst bringing in the experience of Mo Williams and Richard Jefferson, the Finals runners up have certainly been busy trying to appease James.

LeBron's perspective

Tristan Thompson though remains conspicuous by his absence with no new deal signed as of yet. After his dominant performances towards the end of last season, his return is surely integral to LeBron's mission statement.

Fortunately for Cavaliers fan who may have started to get worried, James had an exciting message on that front during a Twitter Q&A yesterday:

In the know?

The brazen confidence of LeBron James can be taken one of two ways.

Either, the four-time MVP is privy to Cleveland's front office business and knows for certain that a deal is close for the 24-year-old rebound monster (he is effectively star player, coach and GM rolled into one remember).

Or LeBron James is using his social media platform to give the Cavaliers a not-so-subtle nudge to get the job done and bring Thompson back for the new season.

Add to that the fact that LeBron and Thomspon share the same agent and you have to feel like James knows what he is talking about when it comes to his recent teammate's future.

Building again

As alluded to above, the Cavaliers have made some smart moves this offseason in an effort to ensure they can return to the NBA Finals next season.

A deal - likely to be of the max variety - for Tristan Thompson would cap off a solid summer in which they secured the services of their top players whilst adding some strength on the bench.

With the Warriors having taken advantage of the Cavaliers' thin depth in the postseason it looks like the Ohio franchise aren't leaving anything to chance for 2015-16. With LeBon James keeping everyone in check, did you really expect anything less?
