Lucha Underground Results: Ultima Lucha, Part One

In last week's episode, owner Dario Cueto announced that Ultima Lucha would begin early because the Lucha Underground season finale would be too big of an event for one night.

Last night's episode teased El Dragon Azteca's attempt to save his protégé, Black Lotus from Cueto's prison as well as an upcoming fight between Black Lotus and Dario Cueto's monstrous, unnamed brother who lives in a steel cage.

In the first match, Cage (Brian Cage in AAA) battled the Mack (Willie Mack) in a brutal Falls Count Anywhere match that demonstrated incredible agility from two men who each weigh around 300 pounds.

WWE was crazy to have "passed" on both of these guys. Cage is a powerhouse who can put on a great match with just about anybody, and Mack is an unorthodox big man who pulls off the fancy moves of a cruiserweight.

Their feud began weeks ago when Cage attacked Mack in order to take his spot on Big Ryck's team to compete for the Trios Championship (three-member tag team), but Mack was victorious in his last two one-on-one matches against Cage.

Although Mack is entertaining enough on his own, he threw in an unexpected Stone Cold Steve Austin homage last night.

Mack opened two cans of beer, smashed them together, poured some beer down his throat, gave Cage a stunner, and with full head and neck motion, crouched over a laid out Cage.

Steve Austin might have loved to see this, except for Cage kicking out when Mack covered him.

The match was fought all over the arena, even involving with a table and a fire extinguisher It ended in a pin fall win for Cage after he curb stomped Mack, crushing a look-alike cinder block.

Next, the Disciples of Death challenged Ivelisse, Angélico, and Son of Havoc for the Trios Championship.

The defending champions were the only team to ever hold the Trios Championship. The run up to last night's match began two weeks earlier when Catrina set them up for the Disciples of Death to attack them from behind while backstage and knock them out.

Angélico took an insane dive from the balcony to the arena floor for a splash onto all three opponents during the match.

Unfortunately, it also took him out of the match while his partner, crowd favorite Son of Havoc, was also incapacitated outside the ring. This gave Catrina, who controls the Disciples of Death and also seems to control the powerful Mil Muertes, a chance to interfere in the match.

Defending the titles yet again despite being on crutches and in a cast with a broken ankle, Ivelisse fought Catrina until Catrina hit her with the stone used to "control" and revive the Disciples of Death.

One of the disciples crawled back into the ring for the pin while the other two prevented Son of Havoc and Angélico from making the save.

Drago faced Hernandez in a Believer's Backlash Match, the culmination of a rivalry started weeks ago by Hernandez attacking Drago from behind and whipping him with a leather belt. Hernandez had also told Drago's fans that they were stupid for believing that dragons ever existed.

In the match, several of the believers (audience members) wielded leather straps to whip a contestant who left the ring. Yet, it was a one-sided affair since they only whipped Hernandez (now a rudo or heel but had been nicknamed Super-Mex prior to Lucha Underground).

With welts across his back and his forehead, Hernandez snapped and snatched a belt away from one of the believers but never attacked them as he said he would if they hit him.

Nevertheless, Drago is a AAA veteran and one of the best luchadores in the world, and he needed no help to win cleanly in the middle of the ring against the much larger but equally athletic Hernandez.

Drago put Hernandez through a table outside the ring and pinned him in the middle of the ring after a splash from the top rope.
