Spain claimed the last remaining semi-final spot at Euro 2008 after defeating Italy 4-2 on penalties at the Ernst Happel Stadion in Vienna.

After the match had finished goalless at the end of extra-time, Cesc Fabregas scored the winning penalty for Spain after Daniele De Rossi and Antonio Di Natale had seen their efforts saved by Iker Casillas.
