France captain Patrick Vieira as backed Raymond Domenech to remain in his role as Les Bleus coach, claiming the team needs stability.

France endured a dismal Euro 2008 and crashed out at the group stage after two defeats and a draw, having scored just once in the three games, and Domenech must wait until July 3 to learn his fate, once the French Football Federation have made their decision.

But Vieira believes Domenech must stay, saying: "Must Domenech remain? Yes, I think so. I like stability. Just because there was this failure does not mean we have to start again from scratch."
