Arsenal fans are probably the most demanding in the Premier League when it comes to transfers. They have consistently called on Arsene Wenger to sign superstars and to break records while he's doing it.
To be fair to them, they have had to deal with repressive austerity measures for years and are now loving life in an era of heavy investment. Those lean times may have prevented Wenger from buying the big names and winning big trophies, but the arrival of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, amongst many other notable signings, has shifted those dark days into the distant past.
While the coffers are fuller than ever at the Emirates, Wenger has proved reserved this summer, restricting himself to just one notable purchase in the form of Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech. Wenger leaving money in the bank is nothing new, but the distinct lack of furore amongst the Arsenal faithful is leaving the GiveMeSport team perturbed.

Arsenal fans do want more signings, but they no longer want Wenger to lob a whole packet of freshly cooked spaghetti at the wall in the hope that some of it sticks. Like the frugal Frenchman, they only want the cream of the crop, or, as Wenger likes to put it, a player of top, top exceptional quality.
It is with that in mind that we bring this story to you with a heavy heart. No, Real Madrid have not decided to sell Karim Benzema. Many of you will know that only yesterday Rafa Benitez declared his intention of keeping the reported Arsenal target at the club beyond the current transfer window.
It's not Benzema (sorry)
Instead, Spanish publication AS has decided to link the Gunners with another lesser-known Real Madrid star in the form of Denis Cheryshev. The winger has been something of an oddball around the Bernabeu since his emergence through the Los Blancos youth system and doesn't fit into Benitez's long-term plans.
Having impressed on loan to Villarreal last season, the Russia international had been tipped to leave on a temporary basis once again. However, with his value at an all-time high, Real Madrid are hoping to cash in this summer.

A stand-in for Sanchez
They want €21million for his signature and, according to AS, Arsenal are considering an offer that the La Liga outfit would deem acceptable. But where would the left-winger fit in at the Emirates?
Alexis Sanchez in the undisputed first choice on the left side of an attacking trio while Mesut Ozil has also been used there in the Chilean's absence. But with the departure of Lukas Podolski and the imminent exit of Joel Campbell, a vacancy could open up for Cheryshev at Arsenal.
