The 2014-2015 season was when Hakim Ziyech announced himself as one of the most technically gifted young players in Europe.

At the age of 22, Ziyech notched an unbelievable league high of 16 assists and also managed to add 10 goals, all this in an FC Twente team a lowly 10th.

In fact, by the end of the season Ziyech had directly contributed to 26 out of Twente's 56 goals. In addition to this Ziyech was the 5th highest rated player in the Eredivisie last season with an overall rating of 7.61.

Other statistics only continue to highlight Ziyech's immense ability; the young dutchman also boasts the 2nd highest number of key passes per game (2.7), the second highest number of through balls per game (0.3), the seventh highest number of crosses per game (1.9) and he picked up the Man of the match award six times.

Ziyech tends to play in the centre of the midfield three in a 4-3-3 formation, this allows him the freedom to move forward and create but also drop back and pick up the ball from the defence if necessary to kick start an attack.

This versatility in his game means that Ziyech would be able to operate as a playmaker in a 3 or as a more orthodox number 10 behind a striker.

If Ziyech is allowed to push further up the pitch his shooting ability is also clear to see, not only is he capable of testing the goalkeeper from open play, Ziyech has already developed an excellent set piece taking ability, something that will only continue to improve as he gets older

What we can take from these impressive statistics and even more impressive performances is that if Ziyech continues to perform and develop at the same rate Twente will have one of the finest creative midfielders in Europe in no time at all.
