Paris Saint-Germain are set to unveil Angel di Maria at a press conference on Thursday evening, 18:30 CET, after agreeing a fee with Manchester United.

This is according to AFP journalist Andy Scott - along with the likes of ITV Sport - who tweeted the news on Wednesday.

PSG had initially agreed to pay £43 million for the Argentina international, but were forced to pay an extra £3 million after Di Maria was photographed meeting his new club’s owners in Qatar.

The sale of Di Maria is expected to coincide with Manchester United completing the signing of Barcelona forward Pedro.

The Spain international played 30 minutes against AS Roma on Wednesday night - in what was presumed to be his final appearance for Barcelona.

Di Maria sale is a shame for United fans

Di Maria, meanwhile, leaves Old Trafford after less than a full year with the Red Devils.

Although Manchester United have recouped a large portion of the £59.7 million they paid Real Madrid last summer, fans will still be immensely disappointed to see the world-class South American leave the club.

However, his exit makes sense from Louis van Gaal’s perspective because of the player’s poor performances and, in recent weeks, unprofessionalism.

Following the Copa America, Di Maria failed to board a scheduled flight to the United States in order to link up with his club teammates for pre-season training.

Van Gaal admitted last week he had no idea about Di Maria’s whereabouts - but the situation is now hours away from being resolved.
