WWE: What is going on with Curtis Axel and Axelmania?

Football News

The WWE have not been having a great time of things, as of late.

Hogan Fallout

The Hulk Hogan racism storm has seen Vince McMahon's company doing the best they can to completely get rid of any traces of the Hulkster's existence, which isn't easy when he was the face of the company for 20 years.

It seems that the blackout of Hulk Hogan has gone deep, with Curtis Axel's 'Axelmania' gimmick being put to rest as well. Or has it?

When the scandal first broke, Axel had his Superstar page changed to remove any mention of his Hogan-based gimmick. Axel would even wrestle at live events as Curtis Axel again for the first time in months.

The Return?

That was until yesterday, when Axel's page on the WWE website returned to the Axelmania character complete with picture of Axel in the get up.

Unfortunately for Axel, that lasted for all of three hours. Once again, all references of Axelmania have been removed.

It's hard to tell if this is good or bad news for Axel. Because, while he had been the Axelmania character, it was the most TV time he has gotten in absolutely ages with a character that was pretty over.

Returning to just plain old Curtis Axel is not going to help him climb up the roster any time soon.
