Manchester United confirm Angel di Maria has joined PSG

Manchester United have confirmed the sale of Angel di Maria, who has signed a four-year deal with French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

On Thursday afternoon, United tweeted: “#mufc can confirm the sale of Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain is complete. We wish him well for the future.”

The Argentina international leaves Old Trafford after 12 months with the Red Devils. It’s understood Manchester United have received £46 million for the South American, who scored four goals in 32 appearances in England.

PSG had initially agreed to pay United £43 million but were forced to up their offer to £46 million after Di Maria was spotted in Qatar earlier this week.

Although the Red Devils had granted the former Real Madrid star, who cost £59.7 million last summer, permission to speak to PSG - they had not allowed him to fly out to Qatar to meet his new club’s owners.

Di Maria will wear the No. 11 shirt at at the Parc des Princes and is keen to help the Parisians win the Champions League for the first time in their history.

Number seven shirt up for grabs

The sale of Di Maria means Manchester United’s iconic No. 7 shirt is once again up for grabs.

Memphis Depay is reportedly keen to wear the shirt, but it could be handed to Pedro, who is now expected to finalise his move from Barcelona.
