Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has hinted that he wants two more additions at Old Trafford before the end of the transfer window.

The Red Devils have already brought in five new signings this summer but the United boss wants to up that number to seven before the window slams shut.

Following Angel di Maria's switch to PSG, Van Gaal wants to bring in a player from the same mould, while he also wants a new goalkeeper as it appears increasingly likely David de Gea will join Real Madrid.

Speaking to MUTV, the Dutch manager said: “Yes, because I have said that we need players with speed and creativity – Di Maria is a player like that and now he is gone, so we need that type of player.

“Of course we have problems still with the goalkeeper, so we need maybe two more players.”

Man United have been heavily linked with a move for Barcelona winger Pedro, and it has been rumoured a deal will be done following the Super Cup, where Barcelona play Sevilla.

Following of summer of uncertainty surrounding the future of De Gea, it appears to be just a matter of time until the Spanish stopper joins Real Madrid after it was revealed he will be on the bench for the season opener against Tottenham Hotspur.

It still remains unknown who Van Gaal wants to bring in between the sticks. There have been links with Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and Ajax's Jasper Cillessen.

Sam Johnstone is in line to be given the nod for the season opener, but it appears the former Holland is looking to bring in a goalkeeper with more stature as United aim to win the Premier League title.
