The San Francisco 49ers have not been having the best of off-seasons, to say the very least.

The 49ers are desperately trying to recover from their poor 2014 where they missed the playoffs, but aren't helped by Justin Smith, Anthony Davis, Chris Borland and Patrick Willis all deciding to retire, while Frank Gore left in free agency for the Indianapolis Colts.

And things got a lot worse today, when it was revealed that star linebacker Aldon Smith had been arrested again.

Smith was then released by the 49ers, after an incident which would have seen him suspended for a third time in just three years .

However, it seems that wasn't Smith's last news worthy action as a player in San Francisco. No, that would be getting in to a fight with Colin Kaepernick at practice.

Yep. According to a report from TMZ Sports, Smith and Kaepernick got in to a fight at Niners practice earlier in the week and had to be separated by teammates.

TMZ go on to allege that the fisticuffs between the two may have been as a result of the ongoing rumors about Kaepernick apparently hooking up with an ex of Smith.

"Multiple Niner locker room sources tell TMZ Sports ... Aldon and Colin had an altercation on the field during a practice on Tuesday, and "players had to pull them apart," TMZ wrote.

"Smith and Hot 97 host Nessa broke up in recent months, and even though she and Kaep have not been photographed together ... rumors they're together have persisted."

I wonder if Smith now being off the team is a good or bad thing for Kaepernick? Maybe he has to be on full alert all the time now...
