Richard Keys claims Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea will join Real Madrid this summer - and has revealed the deal is already done.

Writing in his latest blog, the beIN Sports presenter - notable for his lengthy spell working at Sky Sports - believes it’s a scandal that Louis van Gaal and Ed Woodward have failed to resolve the situation.

De Gea was left out of Manchester United’s squad for the 1-0 victory over Tottenham on Saturday after Van Gaal told reporters the Spain international was not in the right frame of mind to play.

It transpired on Sunday that De Gea had made himself available for the Spurs clash - and has told Van Gaal that he wants to play against Aston Villa this Friday night - despite the fact he wants to join Real Madrid before the transfer window closes on September 1.

United handed a Premier League debut to Sergio Romero against Spurs, and the Argentina international kept a clean sheet. But it was a gamble that could easily have backfired on Van Gaal.

Keys: De Gea to Real Madrid is a done deal

“On the goalkeeping situation - how on earth could Van Gaal and Ed Woodward allow themselves to get to the opening day with so much uncertainty around that position?” Keys wrote on his blog.

“I’ll say again, as I did in January, De Gea is going to Real Madrid. His deal is done. If I know that, surely somebody at United can make the same calls as me and find out too?

“It's a scandalous piece of mis-management. Ridiculous. They should've sold by now and had a replacement signed. It's not rocket science.”

Keys may have jumped the gun, though. While De Gea might have a deal in place with Real Madrid regarding personal terms, the Spanish giants have not agreed a fee with Manchester United for the world-class 24-year-old.

United want €40 million for De Gea, who has less than a year left to run on his contract at Old Trafford, but Real Madrid believe that is too much money and are trying to negotiate a better price.

If De Gea secures his move to Real Madrid, Manchester United are expected to complete a deal for Ajax’s Dutch goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen.
