The upcoming NXT special event continues to shape up as one of the biggest to date, with TakeOver moving away from Full Sail University, and taking place instead at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The event takes place the night before SummerSlam, so fans will definitely be in the mood to see a spectacular event, before the main roster stars hit the ring the following night.
This is expect to be the biggest TakeOver to date, with Finn Balor and Kevin Owens topping the bill in a ladder match for the NXT Championship.

With some great matches set to take place, including the special appearance by Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger, all the focus will be on another superstar making his debut.
Apollo Crews, formerly known as Uhaa Nation, will finally make his NXT television debut, having competed a number of times in house shows.
His debut has been stretched out for too long as NXT officials were thinking how they could mark his debut, what the plan should be and of course, his name.
Now that his name has been revealed, he’s going to appear at TakeOver and we can already tell that fans will show their support to the talented superstar based on their reactions on social media.
Crews is expected to feature heavily on NXT over the next few months, so it’s vital that he is inserted into a feud where the fans can get behind him or against him, if he somehow manages to debut as a heel which is unlikely.
There are plenty of superstars on NXT who would be able to make his transition easier, and help bring out the best in Crews as he establishes himself amongst the NXT Universe who might not have seen him in action.
Here are the stars I believe Crews could feud with on NXT in the coming months.
I think Crowe is the safe option. Crews and Crowe know each other, they’re good friends and they have worked together a number of times, so you can be sure any match they put on will be a match of the night contender.
This would allow both men to display what they have to offer as NXT needs title contenders, and these two are definitely going to be up there soon.
The only reason I can’t see this happening is because of the reaction Crowe receives on a weekly basis from his fans. He’s a strong face, and Crews will also be a strong face or at least gain a strong reaction.
Breeze is also going to be a favourite, as he isn’t really involved in a feud right now. He will be in action at TakeOver: Brooklyn where he will take on Jushin Liger.
I think this is most likely to happen out of all the possibilities, as it will allow Breeze to be built as a bigger heel whilst Crews will grow as a face.
Breeze is proven on NXT and even though he’s never captured the NXT Champion, he’s the man to beat. If you can get through Breeze and put on a good performance, you’ll get your NXT Championship match and that’s what Crews will aim to do.
Rhyno is another superstar who currently has nothing going for him. He’s also there to help put over and improve the up and comers. He would be the perfect feud for Crews.
Rhyno claims he wants the NXT Championship, and he knows he needs to get through the best to do it. Crews will also be looking to insert himself into that bracket and Rhyno is definitely an opponent he could come up against.
The only question mark behind this is how the fans will react. Rhyno isn’t the greatest on the microphone but is good in the ring, whilst Crews is also very good in the ring and his microphone skills are to be tested. Whilst the matches could be great, the lack of microphone skills could prove to be an issue.
This is another superstar who needs a bit of help to elevate him to the title picture. Baron Corbin needs to improve. Plain and simple.
Right now he’s working with Samoa Joe and it’s not clear how long their feud will last, but when it does come to an end both Corbin and Crews could use each other to advance their own careers.
Corbin is a big name on NXT regardless of his in-ring talent and Crews will definitely become an even bigger name by working with him.
On the flip side, Corbin needs to put on a good, lengthy match and Crews is the perfect superstar to help Corbin achieve that, plus the fans will be split between the two.
This one probably won’t take place right away, but it is a feud we should expect to happen down the line at some point.
A few weeks ago, Randy Orton was heard saying that Balor is going to be making his main roster debut soon. If that does play out, it means Balor could drop the title soon, and by the time that happens Crews could potentially be a top contender for the belt.
It’s a lot of pressure, but obviously the WWE trust him enough to hype him up as a huge talent as well as singling him out as a superstar the focus will be on in the coming months. A match between Balor and Crews would steal any show.
There are a number of options for Crews, but the key thing is the booking needs to be done right so he can live up to the hype.
If the NXT officials manage to do that, then Crews will be a key figure on NXT for months to come.
