Liverpool hero Bruce Grobbelaar believes the club have secured the 'bargain of the century' in signing James Milner on a free transfer.

As reported by talkSPORT, the club's former goalkeeper has hailed the England international, who made his Premier League debut for the club in their 1-0 victory against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium yesterday.

In fact, Grobbelaar claims that the versatile midfielder could prove a key player for the club over the course of the next five years if he stays injury free.

Grobbelaar told Russell Hargreaves on Extra Time: “We have got the bargain of the century.

“A free transfer from Manchester City? Goodness gracious, what a player we have got.

“That is a good business, without any money spent. I just hope he doesn’t get injured!

“He is only 29 so he has got another four, five years at the top with Liverpool.”

There's no doubt about it, Grobbelaar really could be right. Ultimately, over the course of the last few years, Milner has been one of the most consistent midfielders in the Premier League, and will bring an awful lot to Brendan Rodgers' side this term.

With a great deal of experience, the former Manchester City man will bring a winning mentality to Anfield and have a huge role to play from the middle of the park.

Expect Milner to both score and create goals for the Merseyside outfit this term and play a crucial role in helping the club climb the Premier League table.
