Atletico Madrid have been fined an undisclosed sum by the Spanish Football Federation after fans directed racial abuse at Recreativo Huelva striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle when the sides met at the Vicente Calderon on Saturday.

Atletico will be fined under articles 35a and 36b of section 19 of 2007 Spanish law, which aim to protect fans and players against violence and racism in sport.

The Spanish Federation (RFEF) made the decision after its Competition Committee met on Tuesday to discuss the events described in referee Miguel Angel Perez Lasa´s official report.
