Liverpool are ready to listen to offers for Lucas Leiva in an attempt to shift him from the club’s books before the end of the summer transfer window, according to reports.
Reliable source the Liverpool Echo claims today that the Brazilian midfielder’s Anfield career finally looks to be over, with it said that the man himself is now considering moving to Serie A following the snub he received from Brendan Rodgers on the opening day of the Premier League season.
Much was made over the fact that Lucas wasn’t included in Rodgers’ squad for the Stoke City clash, and it appears that his exit could be looming large in the coming weeks.

The Echo state that Liverpool value their man at around £8million; a relatively cheap sum given that he has two years remaining on his current deal with the Merseysiders.
Such a figure could peak the interest of former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini, now at Inter Milan, as he looks to continue building his squad with an eye of restoring some of the former glory now apparently lost from the San Siro.
A fair shake of things
That said the report does clearly state that Lucas will be given a fair chance to fight his way back into contention for Rodgers’ team if he chooses to stay past the summer.
There have been occasions in the past where the 28-year-old looked to be dangerously close to the periphery of the squad, only to haul himself back into the public eye and remaining a key asset for the club.
He’ll likely have a more difficult task this time around thanks to Rodgers’ spending in the summer window, but he remains the club’s only proven defensive midfielder.
Jordan Henderson played in the role against Stoke at the weekend but is better with the ball at his feet than he is winning it back, whilst Emre Can no doubt has the position in his sights for the future, though isn’t yet all that experienced in the Premier League.
Liverpool fans, do you think Lucas have played his last game for the club? Should he be sold this summer? Let us know your thoughts in the comments box below.
