Liverpool forward Fabio Borini has accepted that his Anfield dream is over, and is prepared to leave the club this summer as a result.
Despite ignoring Brendan Rodgers’ advice to find a new club last summer, and refusing to agree terms with Sunderland over a permanent switch, the 24-year-old has now bitten the bullet following the arrivals of Christian Benteke and Danny Ings.
The Daily Mirror say that Borini is now considering his options regarding where he will next take his career, although it looks to be Serie A outfit Fiorentina who are in pole position.

In fact, La Viola’s sporting director, Daniele Prade, has confirmed that his club want to sign the Italian forward as they desperately need a striker. With the Liverpool man valued at just £8million by his club it’s unlikely Fiorentina will find a more suitable alternative elsewhere.
“Fabio Borini? He’s one of many possible solutions. The priority is to buy a striker,” Prade said.
Reports state that discussions have already taken place between the two clubs over a deal, though no agreement has been found yet.
With the likes of West Ham and Inter Milan also interested Fiorentina may well want to tie up proceedings quickly, though Liverpool won’t be held to ransom concerning dropping Borini’s asking price.
It’s clear they want almost all of the fee they initially paid when making the striker Rodgers’ first ever Anfield signing, and with the player now ready to agree to leave there’s little stopping a deal from being done.
Of course Reds fans might bemoan the exit of a player many tipped for big things in England. Borini might not have ever realised his potential in either a Liverpool shirt or indeed a Chelsea one, but his form for Sunderland highlighted how valuable he can be when on form, and perhaps heading back to more familiar surroundings will bring out the best in him.
