Liverpool fans may be forgiven for not missing summer departures Steven Gerrard and Raheem Sterling, as many already feel they have the talent to replace both in Philippe Coutinho.

The 23-year-old joined Liverpool from Inter Milan in 2013 and came in as a curly-haired youngster with good potential.

He has since grown under manager Brendan Rodgers to become one of the best playmakers in the Premier League and, with the 2015/16 season having only just begun, he could still be the man to push the Reds back into the top four.

The little Brazilian added to his collection of spectacular goals with a 25-yard strike that saw Liverpool beat Stoke City 1-0 in their opening game of the new season, a performance that saw him win the man of the match award.

Kaka backing

Today Coutinho has been singled out for praise by non-other than Brazil legend Kaka, who believes that the little magician could be the one to lead Liverpool back into the Champions League.

"I have been a big admirer of Coutinho and he can be a very important player for Liverpool and Brazil," he told the Daily Mirror.

"There will be a lot of expectation on him with Liverpool fighting to get back into the Champions League, but I know he can handle it."

Coutinho praise

With all the backing he has received from his manager and teammates, Coutinho will be looking to shine on all fronts for Liverpool and if indeed he does repay the faith put in him, the Reds' hierarchy will surely be doing all they can to keep their man come the end of the season.

Burgeoning partnership

Another thing that is sure to catch the eyes of Liverpool fans all across the world is the prospect of Coutinho linking up with his Brazil teammate and summer recruit Roberto Firmino.

The pair are both gifted with attacking flair and will be expected to light up the Premier League once Firmino regains full fitness. That could well be a partnership that pushes Liverpool back into the top four.
