WWE: Is 'Bad News' Barrett character gimmick returning?

Football News

Whether the WWE had earmarked August 12th as a day for character changes in the company is unlikely, but the second Tuesday of the month is certainly turning out that way.

Change in the air

That's because, after news on stars further down the WWE ladder, Brad Maddox and Adam Rose, appearing to shed their former gimmicks it looks like one of the main roster Superstars could be reverting back to an old favorite.

As reported by Wrestlezone, British Superstar Wade Barrett, currently working under his 'King' gimmick, was back in his 'Bad News' persona as he filmed a backstage segment last night for the upcoming WWE Main Event show.

At this stage there is no official confirmation as to whether 'Bad News', the gimmick the Superstar used when he entered the WWE in 2013 right up until King of the Ring earlier this year, will be back for good. This latest development though is the surest sign yet that it could be.

There has been speculation for some time that Barrett could be dropping his King garb, his recent struggle to retain traction and gain top card matches blamed on his royal character failing to take off.

Bad is good

Barrett, speaking in an interview back in mid-July, spoke of his frustrations at the lack of opportunities presented to him since switching to his 'King' gimmick.

With fans too failing to embrace the change it looks like Bad News would be good for business all round.

Having eld the Intercontinental title in the recent past and with huge potential as a dominant heel the WWE have failed to fulfil the Superstar's potential in 2015. Reverting back to the old formula might be the best way of solving that problem.
