Football News

Just over a day after being cut by the New York Jets, IK Enemkpali has been claimed by the Buffalo Bills.

The linebacker was cut by the Jets yesterday for sucker-punching their quarterback, Geno Smith, breaking his jaw in two places, meaning he will have to watch from the sidelines for six to ten weeks.

The incident occurred when the two players were fighting in the locker room after practice over money, $600 in fact. He could be facing criminal charges for the altercation.

Whilst many have speculated that because of this incident his future in the NFL is over, this however is not the case.

Former Jets Head Coach and current Head Coach of the Bills Rex Ryan has claimed Enemkpali for his side. Ryan drafted the linebacker in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL draft, and played him in six games, across which he only made three tackles and defended two passes.

Ian Rapoport was the first to announce the new acquisition by the Bills on twitter.

This isn’t the only time Ryan has taken a chance on an infamous player this offseason. The Bills have signed Richie Incognito and Percy Harvin, who have had their problems with other players at the Miami Dolphins and the Seattle Seahawks respectively.

If Enemkapli is still on the team come week 10, he could be playing against the Jets at MetLife Stadium. By the current time frame that we have been given, Smith should be back on the field by then, meaning we could have an interesting matchup between the two on our hands.
