Manchester United have no interest in signing Valencia centre-back Nicolas Otamendi because Louis van Gaal does not believe his rough and ready style fits in with his philosophy.
Reports have been linking Otamendi with a move to Manchester United all summer with many respectable journalists claiming he was the second choice behind Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos.

With Ramos having already rejected the chance to swap Madrid for Manchester, Van Gaal was expected to move for Otamendi in the final three weeks of the transfer window.
However, that now appears as if it is not going to happen as Van Gaal has already ruled out a move for the Argentina international, citing his brash and brazen style of defending as a reason to do so.
Van Gaal prefers a centre-back who is comfortable with the ball at his feet; a theory made more evident by his decision to play Daley Blind alongside Chris Smalling in the Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Dutchman's priority for the moment is the situation regarding David de Gea, who may or may not be leaving for Real Madrid in the current transfer window.
However, a new centre-back remains an objective although there is no mention of who is currently rocking Van Gaal's defensive boat.
It seems that the Manchester United boss may already be expecting not to find what he is looking for in the current transfer window and has told Michael Carrick that he may be asked to fulfil a defensive role this season.
The 34-year-old may find his place in midfield usurped by new arrivals Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin, but has already proved capable of playing at the back.
