Barcelona defender Gerard Pique told teammates Real Madrid can 'f**k themselves' after the Catalans beat Sevilla 5-4 in extra time to win the UEFA Super Cup on Tuesday night.

As reported by the Mirror, the Spanish international made the surprising remark after Pedro secured victory for Luis Enrique's side late on against their La Liga rivals.

Pique stated: "Come on lads, let's celebrate! Madrid can f**k themselves. Let them see us turn this round!"

In fact, when he took to the mic after the clash, Pique took another dig at Real as he thanked singer Kevin Roldan who performed at Cristaino Ronaldo's 30th birthday party just hours after after the Bernabeu outfit were humiliated at the hands of Atletico Madrid last season.

"Thank you to all the staff for your help..." he started. "...and thanks Kevin Roldan! It all started with you!" He added to huge cheers from the crowd.

Team to beat

And let's be honest, despite looking vulnerable at the back against Sevilla in their last outing, Barcelona are still the team to beat ahead of the new La Liga season.

Ultimately, after such a sensational campaign last time round, the Catalans will be hoping to produce the goods once again under Enrique, and they will no doubt take some stopping.

Real Madrid, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Sergio Ramos and Co. starring under the guidance of Rafa Benitez, will most definitely have a role to play in the proceedings, but they will have to be at their very best to stop Barcelona claiming another title. One thing's for sure, Pique already appears to be up for the fight.
