Whittaker: My goal joy

Football News
Rangers hero Steven Whittaker admits he has never scored a goal better than his clincher in the 2-0 UEFA Cup quarter-final victory over Sporting Lisbon.

The former Hibernian man added to Jean-Claude Darcheville´s opening goal against Sporting with a stunning late solo strike as Rangers won 2-0 in the Portuguese capital last night, clinching an aggregate victory by the same margin.

Substitute Whittaker ran past the Sporting defence before firing home, and said: "It went in the far corner and it is the best goal I have scored because of the scale of the game."
