Schalke coach Mirko Slomka was a happy man after his team took advantage of Hamburg´s latest slip-up to move into second place in the Bundesliga table.

A seven-team battle for two Champions League places opened up on Saturday after Hamburg´s 1-0 defeat at Stuttgart helped leaders Bayern Munich move closer to the title.

"I am delighted to have moved to second place and it was our aim to take advantage of our rivals´ mistakes," said Slomka.
