Talented striker Chuba Akpom has confirmed his plan to play for the Arsenal first-team sooner rather than later.
As reported by Sky Sports, Akpom, who is currently out on loan at Championship outfit Hull City, has insisted that Arsene Wenger told him he'd be in his plans for this season, but is in need of playing time as he approaches his 20th birthday.
Akpom, then, is determined to prove his credentials under the guidance of Steve Bruce this term, as Hull look to make a swift return to England's elite division at the very first attempt.

The loanee stated: “I want to work as hard as I can and contribute to the team. This is my first full season on loan and that is important because it takes times to settle.”
“The boss (Arsene Wenger) said I’d be in his plans for the season but he wants me to play as many games as possible. I’m 19 going on 20 and I need to play games. He’s told me to be confident and show what I can do and he’s really encouraged me.
“I’ve trained with the first team and played games so I’ve had a taster. The main target is to play for the Arsenal first team. But the Premier League is tough and you’ve got to work hard, be patient and wait for your chance.”
Arsenal striker options
There's no doubt about it, Akpom really will have to impress out on loan in the Championship if he's going to breakthrough into the Arsenal side anytime soon.
The Gunners, of course, already have the likes of Danny Welbeck, Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott plying their trade for the club, while fans are still seemingly hoping the hierarchy add a world-class addition before the close of the transfer window, so Akpom really will have it all to do to prove his credentials in north London.
It's far from certain as to whether the Gunners will add to their options in the coming weeks, as they go in search of success on both the domestic and European scene this term.
