Juventus set to swoop for Lucas Leiva

Juventus will make contact with Liverpool in the coming days over the possibility of signing midfielder Lucas Leiva.

As reported by talkSPORT, citing Sky Italia, the Turin outfit are set to join rivals Inter and AC Milan in the pursuit of Lucas, who now looks set to depart Anfield sooner rather than later.

The Brazilian ace has fallen down the pecking order on Merseyside under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers following the arrival of James Milner, so it now appears that he could head to Italy, as he goes in search of first-team football week in, week out.

It appears, then, that the Reds hierarchy are prepared to move the midfielder on before the close of the transfer window, as Rodgers continues to change the dynamics of his squad.

It looks set to be an interesting couple of weeks for Lucas, who certainly appears to have a tough decision to make ahead of his next career move.

Best all round

And, in truth, a switch for the Brazilian would probably benefit everyone at this stage. Don't get me wrong, it wouldn't be a bad thing for Liverpool if they kept hold of the player for this season.

He'd no doubt have a role to play with the club set to play in the Europa League, however at 28, you can hardly blame the Liverpool man for wanting to play week in, week out, and if Juventus really are in for him, then you can hardly deny him a move to Turin.

He certainly still has a great deal to give, but that may well be away from England's elite division.
