Zenit St Petersburg coach Dick Advocaat hailed his side´s "glorious" performance against Bayer Leverkusen in the first leg of the UEFA Cup quarter-final.

Second-half goals from Pavel Pogrebniak, Aleksandr Aniukov and Igor Denisov helped the visitors to a 4-1 victory in Germany which all but booked their place in the last four. Leverkusen´s Stefan Kiessling had cancelled out Andrei Arshavin´s opener before half-time.

"It was a deserved victory. We played gloriously," said the Dutchman. "We tried to immediately show the opponents that they wouldn´t be able to dictate the play. We pressed excellently, worked actively and it brought us victory."
