Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld blamed the midweek international fixtures for his side´s inability to defeat Bavarian neighbours Nurnberg on Saturday.

Lukas Podolski´s first Bundesliga goal in a year earned Bayern a 1-1 draw in the 50th Bavarian derby, but Hitzfeld felt his side could have won the game had he not lost much of his squad during training last week.

"I was very angry at half time because you cannot run a mile or two more for your national team than for us," he moaned.
