Schalke struck twice in 10 first-half minutes to pave the way for an important victory at Hertha Berlin in their quest to qualify for next season´s Champions League.

The Royal Blues took the lead in the 12th minute through Gerald Asamoah before Jermaine Jones put them in command 10 minutes later with his first Bundesliga goal of the campaign.

Hertha grabbed a goal back from the penalty spot after 67 minutes through Sofian Chahed, but it would prove nothing more than consolation as Schalke held on to move level on points with third-placed Bayer Leverkusen, who hold the final Champions League qualification place.
