Werder Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf has given his players two days off after Sunday´s 1-0 defeat at home to Wolfsburg completed a miserable week.

The loss, which meant Bremen dropped out of the top three in the Bundesliga for the first time since November, followed a midweek UEFA Cup exit at the hands of Rangers and a league defeat to Stuttgart.

Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen both overtook Bremen in the standings after the weekend and Schaaf decided a rest might help his team rediscover some form.
