Arsenal have seriously considered moves for Edinson Cavani and Gonzalo Higuain in this transfer window, however won't target either player over the coming weeks.
This has been reported by the Daily Mail, who claim that the Gunners see the duo as a level below the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Karim Benzema and Thomas Muller, who have also been linked with moves to the Emirates.
In fact, the report goes on to claim that the rising costs and wages of the two players have also put Arsenal off as they go about improving their options up front.

Arsenal, of course, have the trio of Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck at their disposal, but it appears that they're still on the lookout for another striker addition.
The Mail does, however, suggest that it's now unlikely that the Gunners will add a world-class striker to their ranks this month, but claim that they could make a late move for Real Madrid's Benzema.
Dynamics would change
Let's be honest, if Arsenal managed to secure a striker in the mould of Benzema, then they really would have a great chance of overhauling Chelsea at the summit of the Premier League table this time round.
The likes of Walcott and Giroud will no doubt score goals for the north London outfit throughout the course of the season, but someone like Benzema would quite potentially give the Gunners the edge in the big games.
With Petr Cech now between the sticks, Arsenal finally appear to be ready to challenge for the title again, but signing one of the world's best strikers really would change things.
