Real Madrid fans on Twitter have taunted their Manchester United counterparts, claiming their club will sign Memphis Depay in the future.

The tweets from Real Madrid supporters came after Depay scored a sensational brace for the Red Devils - his first two goals for his new employers - against Club Brugge in the Champions League play-off round first leg on Tuesday night.

The 21-year-old, who signed from PSV Eindhoven in a £31 million deal al the start of the summer, earned comparisons with Cristiano Ronaldo after netting two goals of the highest quality on his first Champions League appearance for the Red Devils.

But Real Madrid fans are already optimistic that Memphis will eventually end up at the Bernabeu, following the same path as the likes of David Beckham, Ronaldo and, if the Spanish giants get their way this month, David de Gea.

Real Madrid are always interested in signing the world’s best players and it wouldn’t be a complete shock if the ten-time European champions make a move for the Dutchman in a few years time if he fulfils his immense potential.

But, for the time being, Memphis is very much a Manchester United player and determined to make a big impact at the Theatre of Dreams.
