Karim Benzema. Gareth Bale. Thomas Muller. Sergio Ramos.
Just a few of the names touted as potentially being Manchester United's next big signing. The reality of the situation is this United fans; your club missed out on certain targets this summer and are now looking to raid Southampton for their 23-year-old winger from Senegal, Sadio Mane.

However, for a club used to signings such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Angel Di Maria, Mane must be considered a step down.
A definite blow?
It can be considered as a further blow for the day for the fans of the Red Devils. The club has been involved in one of the most protracted deals this summer, with Spaniard Pedro seemingly set for Manchester in a £22million deal.
Following his side's poor start to the season, however, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has decided to intervene and take Pedro to Stamford Bridge, leaving United boss Louis van Gaal scratching his head and looking for further options.
Fans have to accept
Links will continue to be made with the likes of Muller and Bale, with a supposed £60million bid going in for the German, but it seems very unlikely that Van Gaal and Ed Woodward would be able to pull such a coup off.
United have started the season in patchy form, and, despite the two clean sheets in the league, doubts over the defence remain. It remains to be seen whether the signing of Mane will please the majority of United's fans. From the outside looking it the answer appears to be no.
