Incoming Ajax coach Marco van Basten wants the club to challenging on all fronts in 2008/09 as he prepares to take the helm at the Amsterdam ArenA.

The 43-year-old, who signed a four-year contract, was officially unveiled on Wednesday as the successor to Adrie Koster and will take charge on July 1, after he has coached Holland at Euro 2008.

He said: "We need to win and we need to achieve. Of course four years is a long-term plan but we want to achieve immediately. Playing for the prizes is what needs to be done at a beautiful club like Ajax."
