The German Football Association (DFB) have asked Bayern Munich midfielder Mark van Bommel to submit a written explanation of his conduct in Sunday´s 1-1 draw with Hamburg.

The Dutchman was sent off in stoppage time for two yellow cards, the first for arguing over a throw-in and the second for applauding referee Lutz Wagner´s decision.

He went on to make a rude gesture towards Wagner behind the referee´s back before leaving the field.
