Manchester United are set to make a formal bid for Southampton forward Sadio Mane, according to the Telegraph.
The report claims that the Red Devils will offer the Saints in excess of £20 million to secure the wide-man's signature in this transfer window.
Mane, of course, only arrived on English soil last summer, but enjoyed a fine campaign under the guidance of Ronald Koeman, and it now appears that Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal wants to bring him to Manchester sooner rather than later.

In fact, the report goes on to claim that the United chief sees the Senegal international as a better option than Pedro, who completed a move to rivals Chelsea yesterday.
United, of course, had been heavily linked with the former Barcelona man throughout the course of the summer, with it being claimed that Van Gaal wasn't convinced that Pedro was the right man for his squad.
A huge surprise
Ultimately, then, it appears that Mane is the player Van Gaal wants. And, let's be honest, it's a move that has taken everyone by surprise.
Van Gaal has seemingly rejected the chance to sign an established player in Pedro to swoop for a 23-year-old, who still has it all to prove. It's an interesting choice, but it would be far too easy to call it a foolish one at this stage.
In fact, if Mane does arrive at Old Trafford, then he may actually take one or two by surprise. With extraordinary pace, he's most definitely the type of player United fans will cherish. Ok, he's certainly not the finished article, but the potential is most definitely there.
Perhaps, then, United fans should be pleased that Van Gaal is turning to youth instead of signing a top, top name. By no means has the Red Devils' transfer window been a disaster - and the addition of Mane could yet prove an inspired one.
