Louis van Gaal continues to leave David de Gea out of Manchester United's match day squad as the talk surrounding a move to Real Madrid continue.

De Gea has not played for the Red Devils this season with Sergio Romero starting and Sam Johnstone on the bench. Van Gaal has insisted the Spaniard refused to play, and will not be considered until the transfer window ends.

A source close to De Gea has come out and claimed the Dutch managers treatment of the 24-year-old has led to a total breakdown in their relationship.

Van Gaal claimed that Manchester United will not be selling De Gea before the window closes, with Real Madrid failing to match the Red Devils valuation of the keeper and reports have claimed the Spanish giants are happy to wait until next summer to get the former Atletico Madrid player on a free transfer.

However De Gea could be in for a rough season at Old Trafford if the Red Devils do not sell him, as his relationship with Van Gaal has become untenable, and Romero could have secured his place as number one with three clean sheets in four appearances.

As relayed by the Mirror, a source close to De Gea said: “David just doesn’t get on with Van Gaal - and his relationship with goalkeeping coach Frans Hoek is even more strained.”

With the European Champions approaching next summer, De Gea will be desperate to cement himself as Spain's first choice goalkeeper, but if he is forced to stay at Old Trafford, his chances could be hindered.

Van Gaal is a stubborn manager and may force De Gea to sit on the bench after his perceived moves to force a transfer away from Manchester.

De Gea has ability to fight his way back into the starting line-up at United if he is to remain, but with his relationship with Van Gaal so strained, the Dutch manager may opt against restoring the Spaniard to the side.

Manchester United fans, would you instantly start De Gea when the window ends or would you be happy to see Romero remain in goal? Have your say below!
