Football News
The president of Portugal, Anibal Cavaco Silva, has poured cold water on the country´s hopes of jointly hosting the 2018 World Cup with neighbours Spain.

The Portuguese Football Federation were reported to have been in talks with their Spanish counterparts about the proposed idea, but Cavaco Silva does not see it as a realistic prospect.

"We have other priorities," he said. "When I was prime minister (from 1985 to 1995) the possibility of hosting a World Cup or Olympic Games reached the Portuguese government and at that time we showed some doubts."
